Pair of Large Italian Grand Tour Specimen Marble Obelisks
Gorgeous pair of hand-crafted Italian Grand Tour specimen marble obelisks, circa 18th-19th century. Tall (41”H) and very heavy. Specimen marble artwork flourished during the Grand Tour Florence Renaissance period between 1660-1840; it was an international symbol of wealth and good taste, an Italian hand-crafted souvenir and work of art for Grand Tourists to display in their homes to demonstrate their wealth and refined taste. Centuries later these cherished pieces have become more select, harder to find. As a Curator and Interior Designer, these are the unique qualities I seek – knowing it will transcend time, always in style, never trendy. A treasured find for collectors and interior design enthusiasts of unique and one-of-a-kind pieces with a story to tell!
