Greek Roman plaque with hand-crafted side profile of a Roman emperor, most likely Hadrian, an ancient Roman emperor (117 to 138 CE.). A beautiful Mediterranean palette of terracotta, crisp-white and oceanic blues, dark worn speckles throughout, aged crackle-glaze finish, lending a great sense of antiquity. Hand-painted circular wave motif with "ADRIAN'S" inscribed at top. Hadrian (officially named Publius Aelius Hadrianus) was also referred to as Adrianus; the “V” was often used as a “U” – therefore spelling Adrianus.
